Bali is often called the Island of the Gods because of the deep presence of the divine in everyday life. The Balinese believe the gods reside in the mountains, the rivers, the trees and the sea. Bali carries something sacred - local temples, ricefields, ceremony and a certain wisdom that stays with you.
But unfortunately, Bali is coping with a lot of plastic, waste and air pollution, overtourism, climate change and more. In my opinion this island is a very special place and I deeply hope we'll do our best to preserve this most beautiful, loving culture. My hope was to capture its sacredness.
